Out of the 43.7 million refugees in the world, 47% of them do not have access or have restricted access to a bank account. In a world where most financial transactions take place online, this shuts them out of the economy.
As the app that strives to be the best way to move the world's money where it matters, Wise created a new feature that helps refugees gain access to a digital wallet using their Refugee ID, allowing them to pay, get paid, and receive direct humanitarian aid digitally.

As long as they have a mobile phone, refugees can gain access to a secure digital wallet by scanning the one document they are sure to have, their refugee ID, and taking a selfie to verify their identity.
To crowdsource funds, Wise will partner with athletes who have lived through war and displacement, like Alphonso Davies. Players will wear the Wise logo, and when our ad shows up on the jumbotron, fans will be able to scan a QR code to donate to refugees around the world instantly, and they will also be able to learn about the players' stories.
Out of home ads will feature the players Wise partners with.
